Reminders for Treatment and Prevention of Vaginal Discharge and Infection
Vaginal discharge and infection occur because of many single or combined factors. It is always advised that you maintain proper and clean hygiene and take not to have extra caution always.
Cotton panties are always best to wear. Cotton enables the genital area to breathe and stay dry. It’s best as well not to wear panties at night when sleeping. Tight-fit clothing like swimsuits, spandex and others for long periods of time should be avoided as much as possible.
Unless you are in a permanent and monogamous relationship, the use of condoms during sexual intercourse is strongly advised. Be picky when it comes to vaginal lubrication. Don’t use oils and petroleum jelly as they can only cause breeding grounds for bacteria. When undergoing treatment for vaginal infection, avoid sexual intercourse. You need to wait first until the symptoms disappear. Itching is also common, bear in mind always not to scratch.
The vaginal area is very sensitive. Careful caution should be observed all the time. Products such as powders, perfumed or deodorant soaps, lotions, and bubble baths may irritate the vagina and so contact should be avoided. You can continue your regular medication like creams or suppositories even when your monthly period starts. In cases where you are doing self medication and after some time your symptoms still persist, call a doctor and have a vaginal exam scheduled right away. Medical intervention is always best. Many women may not be comfortable with this but you can rest assured that your health care provider can get the job done for you.
